Where Can Our Family Serve?

Jesus commanded his disciples that, as they go about their daily lives, to make disciples of all nations and to serve each other in love. At Berean Baptist Church (BBC) we hold a deep and abiding love for our God and for one another. We hold a fervent desire that all would come to know, love and serve Jesus Christ. The church gathering is not viewed as a place that can serve us but as a place in which we can serve others. Each week BBC expresses a love of community in service through an ever increasing number of service activities. Each serves in sharing the love of Christ and growing in a true knowledge of Him. Church family members are involved in a variety of practical ministries. What follows is a summary of opportunities and in no way represents an exhaustive list of service opportunities.

Family Bible Fellowship

BBC seeks to provide faithful Bible for every member of the family. Every Sunday morning at 9:00 am BBC holds a children’s Bible fellowship (Sunday School) class, in conjunction with a Family Class and a Women’s Bible study. This special time gives each family member more opportunity for interaction and learning in a context and manner that may be better suited to their age and learning styles. Our friendly children’s teachers are screened and trained to make the best possible environment for our children.

Within the Family Bible Fellowship service there are teachers, helpers and attendance takers.

Worship Ministry

God-honoring, God-centered worship is something we strive for every day each week. Many of our church members are involved in our worship music ministry at BBC. Some play their instruments. Some are vocalists. Others are involved in the choir. Still others get involved through the reading of Scripture and giving testimonies. These volunteers are an important part of the ministry of BBC, each using their talents and gifts to glorify God and lead others into His presence.

Within the Worship Ministry service there are teachers, instrumentalist, vocalists (worship team and choir), Scripture readers, ushers (see below), media and technology support (see below) and attendance takers.

Ushers

The usher ministry at BBC fills a critical role. They are involved in directing attendees to their seats, ensuring the safety of the building during services, guiding traffic, helping visitors, answering questions, providing general direction, receiving the offering, and generally ensuring that the service can proceed problem-free. Ushers serve within the Worship Ministry as well as special service opportunities including weddings and funerals.
Within the Usher Ministry service there is a servant-hearted group of men whose ministry is integral to church life.

Media & Technology

Using media to spread the gospel is a privilege of BBC. In an age of widespread technology, we have a stewardship to use these tools as best as possible for kingdom purposes. All of our weekly messages are uploaded to our website in audio and video format along with the message notes. We also maintain an active Facebook account for additional church communication.
Within the Media & Technology Ministry are sound technicians, lighting technicians, audio and video technician’s, website designers, photographers, Facebook and social media editors, and online directory editors.

Bible Study

Tuesday at 10 am at Bob Mathison’s house (5232-76th Pl NE, Marysville) where a number of the church family members gather for Bible study (Typically a book of the bible) and to pray for shared needs from among the church family. Prayer cannot be overestimated. Studying God’s word and Prayer is an immense privilege through Christ and moves the hand of God among His people. BBC is a family of believers dependent upon His word and prayer, and committed to God’s sovereignty. Throughout the week, via our prayer chain, volunteers pray for the pastor, fellow church members, any special requests shared, and missionary prayer needs.

Awana Tuesday Night Ministry

BBC’s Awana Tuesday Night Ministry is taking a break. Updates will come soon.

GriefShare

Currently not running at this time.

For those who have lost a loved one it may be hard to feel optimistic about the future. After losing a spouse, child, family member, or friend, people may often feel there are not many others who understand the deep hurt of grief. This can also be a confusing time when people feel isolated and have many questions about things they have never faced before.

BBC’s GriefShare groups meet weekly to help the grieving face these challenges and move toward rebuilding their lives. Each GriefShare session has three distinct elements: Video seminar: Each week the GriefShare group will watch a video seminar featuring top experts on grief and recovery subjects. These videos are produced in an interesting television magazine format featuring expert interviews, real-life case studies, dramatic reenactments, and on-location video. Support Group Discussion: After viewing the video, the group members will spend time as a support group, discussing what was presented in that week’s video seminar and what is going on in their lives. Personal Study and Reflection: During the week participants will have the opportunity to use their workbook for further personal study of the grieving process and to help sort out their emotions through journaling. The group will spend time discussing questions and comments from the workbook study.

GriefShare runs in the spring and fall for a series of thirteen weekly seminars. See the church calendar for meeting dates and times. All are welcome to begin attending the GriefShare group at any session. Each session is “self-contained,” so attending in sequence is not required. There is encouragement and help whenever participants begin. Participants will be able to continue with GriefShare through the next 13-week cycle and view any of the videos they have not seen in a previous cycle.

Within the GriefShare Ministry service there are meeting facilitators and audio/video technicians as well as those who are participating in the sessions.

Hospitality Ministry

Because of and in response to the amazing truth of the Gospel, the Hospitality Ministry desires to model that which we have been graciously shown—God has lovingly and graciously welcomed all people who believe into His Kingdom. The Hospitality Ministry exists and responds to God’s hospitality toward us by reflecting His character to anyone who comes through the doors of BBC.

We desire to make everyone feel welcome through a warm greeting at the door, assisting anyone who might need information or directions, providing opportunities for people to connect over a cup of coffee and a cookie or enjoy a common meal of fellowship each month. In these simple ways the Hospitality Ministry serves to encourage growth in the church’s love for God, His glory, and in the church’s love for one another.

Within the Hospitality Ministry there is wedding coordination, funeral/memorial service, greeters, kitchen staff, refreshment providers, and all those who share in the fellowship meal and provide a meal for those shut-in or convalescing from illness.

Care Ministry

Care ministry exists to provide love and support to people who are struggling with life’s challenges. We all need help at one point or another during difficult times. We would like to assist in any way that we can. If you would like to be added to our prayer list please click here. If you would like a visit from our care team please click here.
